“And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues.” ~I Corinthians 12:28 NIV
Ushering/Greeting is a ministry of helps as ordained and anointed by God Himself. The word “helps” comes from the Greek word antilepsis or antilempsis which means “a laying hold of, and exchange, to lay hold of, so as to support.” Its literal meaning is one who gives assistance. In other words, if one is helping anyone in the church or assisting the weak and needy, he/she is operating in the ministry of helps.
The ushers and greeters of Horizon are spiritually prepared for their ministry of helps by cultivating these five qualities: teachability, thoughtfulness, tactfulness, timeliness, and teamwork.
